D Day Museum in New Orleans - Good News

Last night I found a blog report that states there is little, if any, damage to the D Day Museum in New Orleans. Another link cites a report from the Associated Press that says the building is in good shape. Yesterday I was tracking down rumors that the museum was heavily damaged by looters and vandalsim. Great news, and right now we'll take any glimmer of good news we can get from this region.

  1. That's great news. I've not been there yet, and I'm glad I'll have a chance to see it.
My school's 8th grade trip to DC a few years ago met up with some WWII vets at the WWII memorial in DC. It was at the time of the official opening, and when our kids saw the vets (identified by hats and jackets) they ran up, gave hugs, and said "Thanks for what you did." We heard from one of the vet's wives telling us how moved they were by the exchange.
Gives us hope for the future, doesn't it?

  2. Thanks for the comment. Sounds like you had one of those momments that come around every once in a while when teaching seems worthwhile and you can tell you made a difference. I use those momments to get me through the periods of not turing in homework, late night grading, 10 minutes to eat lunch.......

    Thanks.

  4. Hey, I am having trouble subscribing to your podcast in iTunes. I am using the URL http://feeds.feedburner.com/SpeakingOfHistory -- do you have that set as a smartcast? Feedburner has a nice tutorial about how to set this up on:
